Responsibilities
As a Tax Manager, your role will include:
- Leading and managing the tax planning and reorganizations for our clientele which will include corporations (private and public), individuals, trusts, partnerships, and charities.
- Developing and implementing tax strategies to minimize liabilities and support client goals, while adhering to legal and statutory requirements.
- Conducting and overseeing research on complex tax issues to prepare recommendations and insights for client memorandums and presentations.
- Managing client relationships and acting as the primary point of contact for tax-related matters.
- Supervising and mentoring tax associates and providing guidance on technical tax issues.
- Manage the objection and audit process, ensuring seamless communication with taxation authorities.
- Refining and enhancing internal tax policies and procedures to improve firm operations.
- Staying updated on the latest tax legislation and best practices to ensure compliance and provide proactive advice to clients.
- Participating in business development activities to attract new clients and expand the firm’s tax services.
Qualifications
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation and a university degree are required.
- Completion of or enrollment in the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Certification program is highly valued.
- At least 6-years of public accounting experience, with a focus on Canadian tax matters.
- Proven experience in managing tax compliance processes and leading a team.
- Proficiency in CaseWare, TaxPrep, Ask BlueJ, CCH Wolters Kluwer, Taxnet Pro, Canadian Tax Foundation Journal, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
