Responsibilities

As a Senior Associate, Taxation, your role will include:

  • Assisting the Partner and Senior Associate, Taxation with tax planning and reorganizations for our clientele which will include corporations (private and public), individuals, trusts, partnerships, and charities.
  • Developing and implementing tax strategies to minimize liabilities and support client goals, while adhering to legal and statutory requirements.
  • Conducting directed tax research on tax issues to prepare recommendations and insights for client memorandums and presentations.
  • Managing client relationships and acting as a point of contact for tax-related matters.
  • Mentoring intermediate and junior tax associates and providing guidance on technical tax issues.
  • Collaborating with the team and our clients to resolve audits or compliance issues, ensuring seamless communication with taxation authorities.
  • Refining and enhancing internal tax policies and procedures to improve firm operations.
  • Staying updated on the latest tax legislation and best practices to ensure compliance and provide proactive advice to clients.

Qualifications

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation and a university degree are required.
  • Completion of or enrollment in the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Certification program is highly valued.
  • At least 3-years of public accounting experience, with a focus on Canadian tax matters.
  • Proven experience in managing tax compliance processes and leading a team.
  • Proficiency in CaseWare, TaxPrep, Ask BlueJ, CCH Wolters Kluwer, Taxnet Pro, Canadian Tax Foundation Journal, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
